Our story
Based on the pristine island oasis of Mogo Mogo in the pearl islands of Panama, Mogomed is an escape from the American healthcare system, getting you the care you need and deserve at prices you can actually afford. We are a small business, founded by an American husband and Panamanian wife after experiencing the worst of the American healthcare system and knowing there was a better way. Paying costly monthly premiums with a significant deductible, only to receive a subpar annual physical that barely tells you anything is not acceptable. The wealthiest Americans receive the absolute best healthcare, while the majority of us are stuck paying thousands out of pocket without ever even hitting our deductibles or getting access to best in class technology and preventative care. What we are
Mogomed is a preventative care marketplace. We list accredited and verified hospitals, show you all in cash prices for all of the services available, and let you book. No wait, no referral, no insurance necessary. We find the providers, verify them, guarantee pricing, and book your appointment seamlessly.
How it works
You search for the care you want or need — imaging, labs, a screen, an executive physical — and a destination you might already be headed to. You can compare pricing amongst all of our providers for the same care. When you're ready you book your preferred date with your preferred provider. The only thing you pay upfront is a refundable admin fee included in the total price of care. No hidden fees, no surprises, just excellent care that you book with a few clicks.
If you would like to use an HSA or FSA to pay for care, we generate a full evidence packet for you from the invoices and any travel receipts you upload (airfare and parts of hotel stays may be refundable according to the IRS rules). Please see HSA/FSA for additional information.
What sets us apart?
American care can be excellent, but it is not easy to get, and astronomically expensive. Prior insurance authorizations, wait times to get an appointment, networks, and a deductible that resets every January mean most people only get thorough diagnostics and preventative care done after there is already something to worry about. The cash prices offered by Mogomed partner clinics are often a fraction of U.S. prices, and you will never wait months and months just to see a specialist.
We don't think you should gamble on a random clinic because it's cheap. We only list hospitals that meet JCI (Joint Commission International) or an equivalent level of quality and care standards. We care about your healthcare outcomes, and we will never compromise this to list a subpar care provider. We care about your privacy too. Your results sit in private, encrypted storage. Staff may access files only to operate your trip or during a support request triggered by you.
